Our Process

Step 1: Design & Contract

IDEAL CDR is a full-service design/build firm. We will assist you in mapping out plans for your home and meticulously translate your remodeling vision.

  • The design(s) we propose are carefully reviewed with you to ensure that we have reached an optimal balance in function, form, and aesthetics. During the design process, we also offer additional add-on services to help you visualize what your project will look like upon completion. It can sometimes be difficult to envision what the finished work will look like from a 2-dimensional architectural floor plan. Our Digital Renderings*, which are realistic computer generated images, are very useful tools to help customers see the interior and exterior of their project before the construction work begins. After the design phase is complete and the construction agreement has been reached, the project can move forward into production. Architectural drawings and permits are submitted for municipal review and approval. Once the permits are approved, construction can begin.

*Please EMAIL US for additional information and pricing for these services.

Step 2: Implement

  • IDEAL CDR will meet with you to review the design plan for feasibility and/or suggestions that may improve flow or conserve costs.
  • We will share a timeline for the selection of materials and products for the project, especially those items that may have an extended lead time, such as kitchen cabinets. We share our preferred vendor list and offer design input for your selections, should you require assistance in that area.
  • A production plan is created to make sure your project stays on schedule.

*Please see the "CABINETS" section of our website for further information on our cabinet showroom.

Step 3: Confer

  • We arrange a pre-construction meeting to review all aspects of the project and to re-confirm the details of the agreement.
  • We establish a production project file, which is maintained as the central repository of information for all work on your project.

Step 4: Set Up

  • We'll arrange for placement of a trash container, portable toilet, and construction fence as required.
  • We will make room for large supplies such as lumber or windows, and schedule their delivery.

Step 5: Construction Begins

  • The crew prepares the foundation, frames the walls, floors, and roof, and installs windows.
  • The house is roofed and sided.
  • The plumbing is roughed in, electric and cable lines are run, and conduits for HVAC systems are installed.
  • Insulation between studs and ceiling joists is applied, sub-floors are installed, drywall is installed then taped, spackled, and sanded.
  • The crew finishes wall and ceiling surfaces; installs cabinets, counters, and window trim, and hooks up appliances and light fixtures.
  • The finished flooring is installed, and plumbing and electrical systems are finalized.

Step 6: Follow Through

  • We will tour the renovated or new construction space with you.
  • We will itemize any details that need to be finished and any changes that need to be made; we urge you to keep a detailed list of your own to compare with ours so we ensure no detail is overlooked.
  • We will complete a final inspection, and apply for your Certificate of Occupancy.
  • We will schedule a time to take final photos of the project, and send you a testimonial/review request for you to fill out and share your experience about working with IDEAL CDR.
